Euclid, OH, May 6, 2009 - Eaton Family Credit Union is very proud to announce that Michael Maroney, Melinda Arko and Eric Hornung have each been awarded $1,000 college scholarships.

“We had some great candidates this year and these three came out above all,” says Mike Losneck, President. “I like the fact that they’re superior students and are involved in extracurricular and community activities. We are committed to helping our members and their children achieve their financial goals.”

Mr. Hornung attended Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland. He will enroll at The Ohio State University this fall. The oldest of four children, Eric is a very strong math student and desires to work in financial services industry. Hornung played football and lacrosse in high school. He has worked as a math tutor, for area sports leagues and with community organizations including Arrupe Neighborhood, American Cancer Society and Catholic Relief Services.

Miss Arko attended Euclid High School and through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Options Program is also enrolled at Lakeland Community College. Melinda will study Spanish and international business at Ohio University this fall. Miss Arko competed at the varsity level in soccer, cross country, swimming, track and field in high school. She worked as a lifeguard and swim team coach in Euclid plus volunteered at various community events.

Mr. Maroney attended Madison High School in Madison, Ohio. He will enroll at Kent State University this fall. Through Project Lead the Way he was exposed to engineering but Michael prefers to study accounting and hopes work as a Certified Public Accountant. Maroney enjoys the outdoors and has worked as a Madison Youth Basketball referee for the past four summers.
